Computational Intelligence and Learning

Cyber security and AI

Friday 04/02/22, 2:00pm

Panel: Charles-Henry Bertrand Van Ouytsel (UCLouvain), Shafi Goldwasser (Berkeley, California), Olivier Pereira (UCLouvain) and Thomas Peeters (UCLouvain)

Abstract:
This seminar will be jointly supported by TRAIL, CyberWal and the MUSICS doctoral school.
The main session will consist of two parts:
Part 1: Hunting malware by AI
This talk, given by Charles-Henry Bertrand Van Ouytsel, highlights the benefits of Artificial Intelligence in malware analysis. The first part of the talk is dedicated to the challenge of malware analysis, while the second shows how machine learning and formal verification team up to obtain better performances than classical static/dynamic anti-virus techniques. The last part of the talk briefly discusses the use of federated learning in collaborative malware analysis.
Part 2: Grand challenges of AI to be addressed by cryptography research
- Panel introduced by Benoit Macq
- Pre-recorded talk by Prof. Shafi Goldwasser
- Panel discussion with Profs. Olivier Pereira and Thomas Peeters
